Stockport Amateur Operatic Society present this classic musical show, at the Plaza Theatre., Stockport. The musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The story, based on the 1938 film adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s 1913 play Pygmalion, concerns Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from professor Henry Higgins, a phonetician, so that she may pass as a lady. Despite his cynical nature and difficulty understanding women, Higgins grows attached to her.
Saturday 2.15 Matinee Performance
As members in the past have had difficulty in getting a meal in Stockport before the show it has been decided to call at Notcutts Garden Centre (about 20 mins from the Plaza) known as Woodford Park on the way. We anticipate being there at 11.30. Notcutts offers a wide range of gardening supplies, outdoor furniture, and even a pet shop. Most importantly we can enjoy a meal or a coffee and cake at the spacious on-site restaurant with a lakeside terrace, making it a perfect spot for our pre-show lunch.
