



Oswestry u3a Travel Group is planning a day trip to Worcester, this will be a relaxed “drop and run” visit, giving members the freedom to explore this beautiful and historic cathedral city at their own pace before returning to Oswestry later in the day.
Worcester is a wonderful place to spend a day, with its rich history, stunning architecture, riverside walks, independent shops, museums, cafés and welcoming places to enjoy lunch. Whether you enjoy exploring the past, taking a gentle stroll, discovering local crafts, or simply spending time with friends, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Places to visit in Worcester may include:
- Worcester Cathedral – one of the city’s most impressive landmarks, standing proudly beside the River Severn. Explore this magnificent building, see King John’s tomb and, if open, enjoy the wonderful views from the tower.
- River Severn and Diglis area – take a gentle walk beside the river, enjoy the views, watch the world go by, or stop for a coffee or lunch.
- The Commandery – step back in time and discover the story of the English Civil War and the Battle of Worcester in this fascinating historic building.
- Friar Street – wander through one of Worcester’s prettiest streets, with its charming timber-framed buildings and reminders of the city’s past.
