Rodney’s Pillar is a tall stone tower on Breidden Hill, near the Welsh border. It was built in 1781 to honour Admiral George Rodney after his sea victories. The pillar stands high above the land and can be seen from many miles away. People have walked to it for generations, enjoying wide views over Shropshire and Wales. Inside, a narrow stair once led to the top, though it is now closed.
It is now surrounded by security fencing, as the pillar has become unstable and is waiting repair. Care should be taken when nearby, and the fencing must not be crossed. We hope work will be carried out soon so it can be made safe and enjoyed again by all.
Group A Meet at Morrisons for pick up as there is reduced parking for this shorter walk. We will follow the gravel path. 3 miles to the top, lovely walk but some step uphill stretches. . Also you need boots and sticks as it can get slippery
Group B Will start from Crigion Car Park. This is a strenuous 5 mile walk. Boots and sticks as it can get slippery.

Walk start for Group B - what3words ///snowballs.winks.boating free download works with Google and Waze Maps.
