Welshampton is a lovely rural village, not far from Oswestry. Our walk today is about 5.5 miles, a mix of fields, paths and lanes. The area is known for its gentle rolling fields, hedgerows, and quiet lanes—perfect for members who enjoy a traditional walk through the English countryside. Passing the mere which is the largest of the 9 glacial meres in North Shropshire we walk the old farm route to the rear of the mere. There are expansive views of Ellesmere, Dinas Bran, Llangollen and Minera mountain on a clear day from the fields. Walking difficulty is moderate as there is is one short steep field, which takes about five minutes to do. The views are worth it, with a Trig point on route. Good footwear in case the grass is wet. Barbara has kindly agreed to lead this walk.
