Our group aims to look at different styles and types of gardens in our immediate area and further afield. Garden visits offer a delightful experience for nature lovers and gardening enthusiasts. The UK boasts a rich variety of public gardens, from the historical grandeur of Powis Castle & Garden to the creative displays at Wollerton Old Hall Garden.
Car sharing is our usual method of transport. It has been agreed that drivers will be reimbursed at £5 pp for local journeys up to 25 miles, and £10 pp for longer day visits. We have a small number of regular drivers and it is up to each member to arrange their own lifts.

Arley Hall and its gardens make a fine visit for our Garden Group in August. The grounds have grown over the past 250 years and show many types of planting that people have enjoyed for generations. The famous double herbaceous border is said to be the first of its kind in England, and it still brings strong colour and shape. The formal areas include a kitchen garden, a rose garden and a grand line of holm oaks cut into neat round forms. There is also an arboretum and a quiet woodland walk for those who like to take their time and look about.
