The walk starts at King’s Nursery in Garthmyl and follows a green lane towards the disused section of the Montgomery Canal. We then cross the A483 and continue to Vron Chapel, with the only climb of the walk taking us up to the chapel. After crossing back over the A483, we follow another green lane towards the golf club before making our way across to the River Severn. The route then continues through a caravan park before returning to King’s Nursery. At around 3½ miles, this is a pleasant walk through a mix of countryside, lanes, canal-side paths and riverside scenery. There is just one climb, making this a good walk for members who enjoy a shorter countryside route. Boots are advisable, particularly after wet weather, as some sections may be muddy.
Take the A483 out of Oswestry, passing Welshpool towards Newtown. At the end of the village of Garthmyl turn left (op. the Nags Head Pub) Park in Kings Nursery Car Park. If the nursery is closed carry on past and take the next right (100 meters) signposted to the golf club. There's lots of parking along the road
